Private Well Testing Act
According to NJ PWTA (effective September 14th, 2002, as per NJAC 7:9E) sellers or buyers of property with wells are required to test raw untreated potable water for a variety of water quality parameters such as (Total Coliform, Iron, Manganese, pH, Nitrates, Volatile Organic Compounds & 48 Hour Gross Alpha Arsenic 1, 2, 3 Trichloropropane, EDP, BDCP) depending on the county prior to closing. Landlords are also required to test their well water once every five years. As per the requirements, Vineland Environmental Laboratories, LLC's specially trained and equipped field technicians collect the potable water samples. The technicians perform on site "analyze immediately" parameters (pH, Chlorine) and obtain GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinates. A complete chain of custody is filled and the samples are brought to the laboratory for testing. Once testing is completed (4-5 business days), final reports are generated which are then emailed / faxed. The original reports are sent via US mail. The PWTA sample results are then submitted electronically to the State of NJ.
